Alternate Name(s)

Description

Active Power

Watt

The power attributed to the work related elements of the circuit (appliances).

Actual Timestamp

Meter Reading Date and Time

The timestamp (date-time combination) recorded by the logger to identify the moment when each reading was polled. (see also, Rounded Timestamp)

Aggregated Data

Pre-calculated daily totals stored in Sigma in preparation of analysis and reporting. In the case of low frequency reads, the daily totals are pro-rated.

Apparent Power

Volt-Ampere

The vector sum of active and reactive power.

Available Capacity

Availability, Agreed Capacity

The pre-agreed ceiling for electrical load between the consumer and the distributor of the supply.

Brown Electricity

Brown Fuel Mix

A common term used to used to describe the grid electricity fuel mix from all sources (ie. fossil fuel and nuclear generation form a proportion of the sources)

Cooling Degree Days

Cooling DD

A degree day measurement for energy expended to chill the air in a building to achieve the base value from the external temperature.

Core

MPAN Core

A 13 digit reference for a UK electricity supply number where the first 2 digits denote the Distribution Network Operator

Degree Days

A measure of temperature and time when the external temperature varied from the base value.

Drag and Drop

A computer user method to move or copy an object from one location to another by selecting and holding (click) an object, releasing the hold (unclick) when the pointer is over the destination.

Dry Bulb

DBT

The air temperature recorded when the thermometer is shielded from radiation and moisture.

Energy

Watt hours

The rate at which power is transferred.

Green Electricity

Green Fuel Mix

A common term used to describe the grid electricity fuel mix from renewable sources (ie. less environmental impact and eligible for some exemptions)

Heating Degree Days

Heating DD

A degree day measurement for energy expended to warm the air in a building to achieve the base value from the external temperature.

High Frequency

An Sigma data point with a read frequency more often than daily (ie. 30 Minutely, 15 Minutely, etc.)

Hyperlink

Hypertext

A reference that can be read directly by selecting the linked text.

JSON Tag

An identifier for a particular data set within an array of data transferred using the JSON format.

Load Factor

The average load over a date range divided by the maximum demand.

Low Frequency

An Sigma data point with a read frequency of daily or less often (ie. Monthly)

Maximum Demand

MD

The peak load applier across a date range.

Normal Site Exposure - Normal

The building is on level ground in urban or rural surroundings. It would be usual to have some trees or adjacent buildings.

Power

Watt

The rate at which work is done.

Power Factor

PF

The ratio between active and apparent power in a circuit.

Radio Button

Option Choice

A mutually exclusive selection from a series of choices.

Reactive Power

VAR (Volt-Ampere reactive)

The power attributed to non-work related elements in a circuit (capacitive or inductive elements).

Relative Humidity

RH

The ratio of the partial pressure of water vapour to the equilibrium vapour pressure at the same temperature.

Right-Click

Context Menu

A selection from the pointer using the "other" button (non- dominant) on a standard mouse controller.

Rollover

Clocked read

A cumulative reading that has accumulated beyond the number of digits of the logger's design (ie. 999999.9+)

Rounded Timestamp

Meter Reading Date and Time

The timestamp (date-time combination) recorded by Sigma to identify the time at the beginning of the data point’s interval for each reading polled by the logger. (see also, Rounded Timestamp)

Site Exposure - Exposed

Coastal and hilly sites with little or no adjacent screening.

Site Exposure - Sheltered

The building is in a built-up area with other buildings of a similar height or greater surrounding it

String

A sequence of characters that stores literal or encoded meaning.

Thumbnail

A reduced size version of a picture used to help recognition.

Timestamp

Date and Time, Read Date

The combination of date and time in used to record the moment a reading was polled from a meter. A low frequency meter will be acknowledge as midnight (01/01/2000 00:00)

Top Line

MPAN Top Line

A combination of the profile class, meter time code and line loss factor (PC, MTC, LLF) to classify a UK electricity supply number.
